Before I Saw You
Before I Saw You by Amy K. Sorrells
As heroin rips through a small town in Indiana Jesse Givens is one girl who has experienced it all. Jesse has gone through so much in her life (which mind you has not been that long), with problems rising from left and right. You as the reader wish that you could lend her a hand because of everything that has shaken and turned her world upside down to this point. The world that Amy has written is empowering while heartbreaking, refreshing but devastating, she has written the good with the bad, and the hopeful with the hopeless. When I myself was reading this book, even never having endured the struggles Jesse went through I now understand what it is like to be in a situation where you feel trapped in the cynical circle of bad luck.
This story is empowering and shows real-life examples in fictional situations that young and old readers alike can take to heart. Amy has done a fantastic job of showing what it is like to trust in God even when it seems like he is not there. Not only does this book express feelings that pull at your heart strings but they burrow into your heart and soul. This book can shape a person for the great things they will become and help them feel that they aren't trapped as long as they trust, listen and fulfill the mission that the Lord has given you. I would absolutely recommend for anyone to read this book, it gives you the fulfillment of what to strive for and teaches you to be grateful for what you have or how to get out of a situation where you feel lost and alone. Even though the lord is watching over waiting for you to ask him for guidance and a shoulder to lean on.
