Review : Don't You Wish - Being perfect has it's flaws

Don't You Wish
by Roxanne St.Claire

Recently I have been reading a lot of Historical Fiction. I bought this book at Dollar Tree because I wanted to switch up and add a little flavor to my reading list. Finding this book (especially for only a dollar) was great, it is the complete opposite of what I had been previously reading. Overall this book was very fun, it had a bit of everything, romance, mystery, drama, and comedy. I didn't want to put it down, I was always looking to get to the next chapter.

I really admired how the chapters in the book weren't too horribly long like some books are. To help with that the book wasn't that long either. Only having 360 pages this was a swift short read that was much needed.

The plot was average, there were a few things I thought could have been mentioned or expanded more on but this is a book for tweens or young teenagers so missing a bit of back information one person feels should have been mentioned more on is not a problem. I felt that if you looked at it through the eyes of the age it was meant to be written for the plot and storyline would be fantastic as well as a comfortable read.

Characters in this book were also very climactic and have exaggerated lives this helps with the understanding of what the character traits and personality types are. That is a great help to younger readers who are unaware of these key points and only look at the big picture of what is happening in the story.

All in all, Don't You Wish by Roxanne St.Claire was a great short read, I would definitely recommend for tweens, who are looking for a book that isn't short but isn't too long. One thing to be aware of though is that some kids have very different reading levels, for some, it would be a very easy read and take not that long. While others might struggle and take more time, what you need to be aware of is, what is the level of reading skill your child or another child has when getting this book for them.
